Bloggers give tips during blogging summit

Find your niche, share your knowledge by talking about what you’re familiar with, engage your audience, and be always on the lookout for something new are some of the tips given by blogger speakers to participants of Saturday’s Visayas Blogging Summit.

Starting and keeping a blog needs a blogger’s commitment, said Vernon Go, who talked about his reasons for blogging.

He encouraged people to blog on issues that interest them, such as other people, places, things, or advocacies.

Photoblogger Evan John Mendoza said a blog is a “channel for expression” online but it could also earn income for the blogger.

He added that in choosing a niche, prospective bloggers should consider who they’re writing for and their goals for starting a blog.

Making money online, said Tim Bennett of Argon Management Training, is about finding a solution to someone else’s pain. He added that bloggers will have to find new ways of doing things because the techniques of five years ago won’t work anymore in the rapidly changing landscape of new media and new publishing.
