News briefing: 3 girls rescued from another cybersex den in Cordova

Police raided another cybersex den in Cordova town in Cebu yesterday, more than a month after a couple was arrested there for using their children as performers for their cybersex operations.

Three minors, aged 9, 12, and 17, were rescued in yesterday’s raid by the Provincial Intelligence Branch headed by Supt. Rodolfo Albotra. The three were brought to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for counseling.

Albotra said they caught the 3 children naked and doing “lewd acts” in front of a computer-mounted camera.

The house has been placed under surveillance for 2 months on suspicion its owner was involved with an illegal online business.

News briefing: 3 fires break out in Cebu in 3 hours

Two days after a fire left an estimated 1,200 people homeless in Barangay Tejero, Cebu City, 3 fires broke out in the cities of Cebu and Mandaue yesterday. Initial estimates place the total property damage in the 3 fires at P370,000.

Several people were injured when a fire razed 7 houses and damaged 3 houses in Sitio Bramans in Barangay Mambaling at 9:16 a.m. yesterday. Two hours earlier, a fire hit Sitio Caimito in Barangay Sambag I.

Barely had the firemen placed the Mambaling fire under control, another blaze broke out in Barangay Ibabao-Estancia in Mandaue City. The fire, reported at 10:15 a.m. burned down a bunkhouse, damaged a van and an auto repair shop and killed a dog and 6 chickens. Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama has ordered the re-blocking and road restoration in 3 sitios hit by fire in Barangay Tejero. Rama ordered 8 City Hall offices and 2 councilors to implement these in 3 days.

Rama also asked the fire department to conduct an inventory of all fire hydrants in the city after finding out that there was a fire hydrant 50 meters from the area hit by Saturday’s fire but fire fighters could not use it because it was inside a house.
